The toilet is back where it ought to be and the busted pipe is fixed. The hole in the kitchen ceiling will be around for a while though, to remind me of how much I love plumbing. I do. I LOVE plumbing. Peeing in the bushes just ain't my thing, as it turns out.
In my wanderings around the vast webby expanses today I came across this over at BoingBoing.
It got me all nostalgic for my misspent youth. I'm pretty sure that if I had it to do over again, I could misspend it even better. Because I have a better perspective now and my priorities are straight. I KNOW I could get away with much more. And I really wish that I had tried that trick of telling your parents the truth and it being so outrageous that they don't believe you and think that you are just trying to be funny.
Real conversation that I witnessed between a friend and his parents way back when:
"How come you came home late last night?"
"Oh, cuz John and Sam and Flora and I went out and drank a bunch of forties and then John forgot how to drive because he was so drunk and we ended up crashing at a cemetary for a while smoking pot until John figured out how to drive again."
"Ha, ha. You always have the best stories. Well, at least tell us if you had fun."
"Definitely."
I never figured out how he was able to do that with a straight face. My eyes were bugging out of my head during that exchange. So I I figure that if I could do it over again, I'd like to try that.
Well, one thing led to another and soon I was engrossed in the process of trying to remember the names of the bands that used to be tattoo-ed on my brain, and then checking YouTube to see if there was any footage of them.
I have to say that I love YouTube, it would be much harder for me to relive my corner of the 80's without it. And of course, I wouldn't have lost an entire evening either. (The Sopranos is still Tivo-ed from Sunday - I've been so busy doing stupid shit that I haven't been able to find time to watch it yet)
And so I leave you with this little nugget from the Eighties. It always reminds me of driving too fast down rural roads with friends singing at the top of our lungs. And drinking Pepsi.

Oh boy, that brings back memories. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning.

The fact that I can't remember the name of this band is going to drive me crazy all day long now. I do remember the song.
Oh, and I voted for you as "Grumpymom." Good luck on the Blogger's Choice Award thingie!
