So it's Thanksgiving and I'm sure everyone else out there is being thankful in their blogs. Here's what I'm thankful for in a nutshell:
My husband, who is like no other man I've ever known before. Supportive and kind and unconcerned with gender stereotypes. Plus he is the only one who knows how to handle both Daniel and me.
Daniel, of course, for his amazing wit and sense of humor and the genuineness of his emotions. He shines so brightly sometimes that I don't even mind when that flame of his becomes out of control.
I'm thankful that I'm all grown up. You couldn't get me to relive my youth for all rum in Jamaica. I am so happy just learning to be me, finally.
And just to keep it all simple - I'm thankful that I finally started this blog. It gives me a place to write and to reflect and to meet other people. Strengthening the muscle that is writing has been quite powerful for me, and it has redefined how I think of myself.
And now for a funny aside:
Several years ago I was at a party and a friend of mine there told us what her Dad had said about Thanksgiving.
"We've exported Thanksgiving all over the world."
This is a direct quote. He apparently said it with a straight face and appeared confused when she responded to him by saying, "Only on US army bases."
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving.
